FAQ

Common questions about WYA. Need more help? See our Support page.

How does location work?

WYA shows you posts from people within about 5miles of your current location. When you first load the app (or if we don't have a recent location), we ask for permission to use your device's location. We store an approximate location (e.g. in a cookie) so we don't have to ask every time. You can update your location anytime using the "Update location" control at the top of the feed. Location is required to view and create posts.

Why don't I see any posts?

Your feed only includes posts from within the distance radius of your current location. If you're in an area with few or no users yet, the feed may be empty. Try updating your location or checking back later. You can still create a post to start the conversation.

How do I delete my account or my posts?

You can delete individual posts from the post detail page (e.g. via the post actions menu if you are the author). For full account deletion and data removal, please contact us via the Supportpage and we'll process your request in line with our Privacy Policy.

What do New, Hot, and Top mean?

New shows the latest posts first. Top sorts by score (upvotes minus downvotes). Hot uses a formula that balances score with how recent the post is so trending posts rise. Use the sort buttons in the header to switch.

Can I use hashtags and mentions?

Yes. You can use hashtags (e.g. #events) to tag your posts and discover posts with the same tag. If mentions are enabled, you can reference other users with @username. Links in posts may be clickable depending on your settings.

How do I report content that breaks the rules?

Please contact us via the Support page with a link to the post or profile and a short description. We review reports and may remove content or take action on accounts that violate our Terms of Service.
