What is WYA?

WYA ("wya") is a location-based social app. Your feed shows posts from people within about 5miles of your current location. Post short messages tied to where you are, vote and comment on others' posts, and use hashtags to join or start conversations. Sort by new, hot, or top to find what matters to you.

How it works

When you use the app, we ask for your location so we can build a feed of nearby posts and attach your location to your own posts. We store an approximate location (e.g. in a cookie) so you don't have to re-authorize every time. You can update your location anytime from the bar at the top of the feed. Location is required to view and create posts.

Create an account to post, vote, and comment. Your posts and engagement are visible to others in your area. We use your location only to show you relevant content and to display your posts in the right place—we don't continuously track you in the background.

Why we built it

We wanted a simple way to see what's happening in your neighborhood—events, questions, recommendations, or just what people are thinking nearby. WYA keeps the feed local so the conversation stays relevant to where you are.
